12.16.17 Megan & Brian | 514 Studios | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer
Megan and Brian nailed their wedding day, to be frank! Awesome locations, creative DIY details, super cool style - even a dress change for Megan, hilarious and fun friends, family, and wedding party members to celebrate with, and warm hearts to melt the chilly December day.
Brian and his groomsmen got ready at the very new Hewing Hotel, while Megan and her bridesmaids were in the upstairs studio/bridal suite of 514 Studios. For their super cute first sight near 514 Studios, we placed them (without seeing each other) on either side of a building corner. This is an alternative to the first sight where one person walks up behind the other. I love this one, because they both get to lay eyes on the other person at the same time, and can hold hands and chat a bit before actually seeing each other. Very fun!
For family and wedding party portraits, everyone braved the December day so we got that lovely natural, shaded light ideal for portraits. After a sweet ceremony with a few tears, the wedding party took a quick walk (pausing quickly with just the bride and groom for a nighttime middle-of-the-street shot) to the nearby Modest Brewing Co. before Megan's outfit change and their grand entrance back at 514. The rest of the night was a success as well, wrapping with a red dress finale and some killer dance moves.
Megan and Brian's engagement session at boom Island and Bauhaus Brew Labs was a memorable one. Bless their hearts, when they arrived at Boom Island, they had to wait for me while I waited for AAA to unlock my car, because my keys and (more importantly) all my gear were locked inside. Oof! That was a first (and fingers crossed: only), and I felt so terrible and embarrassed, but these two took it in stride like champs! After it all, theirs ended up being one of my all time favorite engagement sessions (but who's counting). I think I said on multiple occasions, dripping with sarcasm, "Well, clearly you two are no fun!" because they are funny and fun and goofy and so clearly smitten with each other! Brian had even written a card for Megan to note their engagement session day. Another first for me, but this time one I can get behind!
